PC Upgrades – Maxxing my platform

IMG_20191105_193237

Following on from the motherboard upgrade I was left wanting just that bit more. I did a full delid and repaste on the 8700K but it didn’t quite quench the thirst so decided to take the plunge on an i9 9900K. Whilst the PC was apart I’ve dropped in another 16GB of RAM so for now I am classing my platform as maxxed out. Not that it was straining before, it’s absolutely not going to sweat now and this will also improve the render times when I’m creating videos.

Now to sit on my hands until H2 2020 when the new 3080Ti’s are out!

Bank Holiday PC Build For Dad

Little bit of a show off post. Dad had seen a HP Pavillion All-In-One on PC world website and spoke to me about getting an updated PC, I told him not to be silly and I can build significantly better for similar money. So I did. The Pavillion was built on older Gen hardware with a 27″ screen, 7700T i7 CPU, 16GB RAM and a 2TB HDD. That was the benchmark to beat so ended up with the following build;

i5 8600, MSI GTX1050Ti Graphics card, 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz RAM, 500GB SSD boot drive, 2TB HDD for data storage, Seasonic 550W Gold rated PSU, Corsair Carbide 275R case and a Dell P2717H monitor. I ordered up a new keyboard and mouse from Asus as well just because it’s nice to have a new everything.

Pics of the build are below, it was a dream to put together.

Small upgrade on the colo server

So a small one but very worthwhile. I’ve today upgraded the RAM from 24GB up to 48GB. It was a really simple swap out job replacing the 6 DIMMS with 4GB in each to 6 sticks containing 8GB each.

Booted up and worked straight away and now I have a lot more RAM to throw around between my VM’s.
